This image depicts an alternate elevation for the fourplex shown in the Incremental Sprawl Repair (ISR) Working Group’s post: http://isrworkinggroup.posterous.com/form-follows-finance-fourplex.
The original elevations depicted a simple box with a simple hipped roof. This design has a steeper tiled roof with deep eaves and parapet end walls. The top of the roof is flattened (low pitched), which allows for easy placement of solar panels if necessary. The center bay containing the main entrance to the residential units is slightly projected forward, given a gabled top and a rusticated bottom. The ground floor commercial tenant entrances are given a simple canopy shed roofs supported on simple brackets.
The intent is to show the variety that can be achieved with a traditional design vocabulary and minimal changes to the plans.
